**Divine Ridiculous: Workshop, Performance, and All Night Rave** 1-6 October, Dartmoor National Park
Divine Ridiculous: A place where the boundaries of the sacred and the absurd blur, where art and magic entwine, and where the Fool reigns supreme.
Workshop: A journey through the topsy-turvy world of the Clown, a space where we embrace vulnerability and revel in the carnival of life. Over the course of the workshop, each participant will create and embody a mask, a living artifact of your mytho-poetic self. As the masks take shape, so too will a performance—a collective act of art and ritual that relates to your own personal drama-as-offering to the landscape of life. Unfolding on the fertile earth of Dartmoor National Park, the performance will be a fragile, living, breathing thing, a tapestry woven of myth, magic, and our own psychic processes, dreams and fears. Each day of the workshop will start with a Sauna and morning practices.
Guiding principles: Clown, Mask, Psychomagic, Immersive Theatre, Ritual Theatre, Animism, Nature.
Gathering in circle, we’ll engage in practices that connect us to the earth, to each other, and to Story. The workshop is a safe space to step into the Fool’s shoes, hone the craft of performance-as-ritual, to play with the elements, and to explore the depths of your creativity and soul.
Performance:
On Saturday evening the boundaries between audience and performer dissolve, and everyone becomes part of the story. This co-created, nature-based piece of immersive promenade foolery celebrates our own ridiculousness and divinity, where laughter, tears, and profound moments of connection are imminent. A small, invited audience will attend the presentation in costume.
All-Night-Celebration:
After the performance, as night falls, the energy shifts from the intimate to the ecstatic. The all-night rave begins—a pulsing, vibrant, outrageously attired celebration of life, movement, and the body’s natural rhythms. Dance under the stars, lose yourself in the beat, and let the wildness of Dartmoor carry you into the early hours of the morning. This is a space for freedom, for expression, for fragility, mutual support and pure unbridled expressions of our humanity.
